Garage door problems

30/08/2017

With garages being the one of the most used parts of the home, it is inevitable that problems will occur from time to time. Regular inspection can help to make sure small problems don’t become big ones. If you suspect there is something wrong with your garage door, here are three of the most common reasons why it might be in need of repair.

1. Rollers

If scraping occurs when you open or close your garage door then a broken roller could be to blame. A damaged roller stops the door from moving as it should along the track, creating problems when operating the door. Getting a broken roller repaired means it will move much more smoothly as well as less noisily too.

2. Springs

Springs can sometimes break and if they do so, should be replaced straightaway. This is because without them, it is possible that a garage door can fall, damaging things within the garage as well as posing a risk to people in the vicinity. You will usually know a spring has broken due to the noise they make when they snap.

3. Tracks

Another part of the garage door which can cause problems is the track which the door moves up and down on when it is opened and closed. If this is bent or misaligned then it needs to be dealt with quickly as continued operation will cause even more damage. Using a professional repair service is probably the best way to go about this rather than attempting to carry out the work yourself.
